Born and raised in Rural Southern Rhode Island, Carol lived beside the ocean and in the wooded parts of the state that so deeply inspire her color and texture choices even now, so many years later.  She was graduated from the University of Rhode Island and then settled back into a life complete with homestead and sheep.  Spinning led to weaving and she hasn't looked back since. ("Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." - Lewis Carroll - is her favorite quotation.)

Carol has been involved with the textile arts since childhood.... Twisting, twining, plaiting and braiding whatever she could then drag through squished berry juice has, thank heavens, led to the more practiced arts of spinning, weaving and dyeing of fibers of every sort.  Her serendipitous approach is one, she credits to the freedom she always felt and to the process of self education.  Her multi-textural, whimsical and more often than not, one-of-a-kind creations are testament to this attitude.

Carol began to weave decorative and wearable art in 1987 and her doll making began in earnest in 2004.  Her artdolls have received recognition in Art Doll Quarterly, an international publication.  She shows in galleries, shops and shows throughout Rhode Island and enjoys a newly constructed presence with her web shop at http://www.lodestarwovens.etsy.com
