"I work on an
idea for a longtime. It’s like getting acquainted with
a person.” This quote of Georgia O’Keefe’s has always
resonated with me. I like to do many preliminary
sketches, until I feel comfortable with the image and
often do several finished pictures of the same
subject. My favorite medium is watercolor, but I do
switch to gouache occasionally and sometimes work in
colored pencil. My newest venture is linoleum block
printing and adding any of the former mediums. I live
in a rural area in North Stonington, CT with a husband
and a cat and am surrounded by the subjects I love to
paint…farms and animals. My academic background is the
University of Iowa, the University of Bridgeport and
NYU. I taught in the Art Department at the University of
Bridgeport for 17 years before retiring to southeastern
Connecticut. I am a member of the Artist Cooperative
Gallery of Westerly, elected artist of the Mystic Art
Center and a member of the Lyme Art Association and do a
lot of local shows.
