I am a New England craftsman creating finely handcrafted furniture and furnishings of distinctive design.  With each design, I strive to balance the utilitarian needs of functionality and durability with the aesthetic desires for beauty, uniqueness and simplicity.  My designs are influenced by a number of factors.  Although many of my designs tend to the Transitional or Contemporary, the most important influences are the Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20^th century and traditional Japanese and Chinese cabinet work.

I emphasize the use of traditional joinery techniques, not only for the aesthetic qualities they bring to the design, but for their strength as well.  And while modern power equipment is marvelous for handling many of the tedious and time-consuming tasks, there is no adequate substitute to the human touch for fine joinery work and finishing.

Each piece is constructed of the finest hardwoods, each component carefully selected for its color, texture and grain pattern and how it will work with the other components to achieve the design and enhance the intrinsic beauty of the wood.  I will often make use of exotic hardwoods, metals, stone, glass or hand painted ceramics to provide accent within the design. 

Each piece is completed with a hand-rubbed oil/spar varnish finish to bring out the natural character of the woods, then waxed and buffed to a beautiful luster.
